소유격 관계대명사는 다른 관계대명사들보다 헷갈립니다.

This is the mountain.
The top of the mountain is covered with snow.
(위의 문장에서 The top of the mountain은 its top으로 대체해도 됩니다.)

두 문장이 있습니다. 이 두 문장을 관계대명사를 이용하면

This is the mountain of which the top is covered with snow.

으로 바꿀 수 있습니다. the mountain이 묶인거죠. 이를 조금 바꾸면 아래처럼 표현이 가능합니다.

This is the mountain the top of which is covered with snow.

만약 여기서 of which를 whose로 바꾸려면 주의해야 할 점이 있습니다.
This is the mountain whose top is covered with snow.
of which 가 whose로 바뀔 때 반드시 뒤에 있는 관사(the)가 빠져야 합니다.

참고로 of가 소유의 뜻을 가진다면 of which는 따로 떼어낼 수 없습니다.
